What is Phlixie?

Phlixie provides you with a simple way to traverse all of the available accessible titles in Netflix's Instant library and the iTunes library.

How did you come up with the name?

We originally planned to go with Captionflix, but when we found out that the Netflix TOS prohibited the use of Netflix or Flix in the title, we went back to the drawing table and eventually settled on Phlix. Since phlix.com was taken, we decided to tack on an ie to the end, and Phlixie was born!

Just Netflix and iTunes?

For now, yes. We're hoping to expand this to include other content providers (e.g. Amazon, Hulu, web series, etc) in the future.

What do you mean by accessible titles?

Accessible titles are titles in which burned in English subtitles, captions, or a combination of the two are available for the full duration.

Why are some titles missing?

Hopefully the title was just added and hasn't been picked up yet. If you think we've missed one or more titles, please let us know so we can make sure the Phlixii are doing their jobs! (We've caught them slacking in the past).

Why do Netflix titles expire?

We don't know. Our best guess is that Netflix has a license agreement with production companies that allows them to stream their titles for a fixed period of time.

Why should I create a Phlixie account?

There are two things that a Phlixie account gives you:

1. You'll be able to manage your Netflix instant queue from this site.
2. You'll be able to view the titles that Netflix has suggested to you (based on your viewing/rating history) that are available with subtitles.
